Props can be utilized to better access the alignment, actions and energetics of any given pose. With restorative yoga the body is completely supported in each posture. This makes the poses more accessible and more comfortable in order to remain in them longer. More comfort means less effort for a more nuanced and personalized experience. It then becomes easier to direct attention toward the breath, to move toward relaxation, ease and integration. 

Each week we will have a complete yoga class. Warming up the body, deepening the breath and moving through a series of postures concluding with deep, supported, relaxation.

Whether the body has been overwhelmed by chronic stress, dis-ease, injury or life events restorative yoga can be used to support the healing process. Restorative poses provide space to feel and align the body as well as the time to notice the subtle sensations and movement of the breath.
 
In this series, you will receive:
  • Detailed instruction on how to use props to support relaxation
  • Pose set-ups and variations of challenging poses 
  • Introduction and practice of each pose family
  • Forward Bends
  • Back Bends
  • Twists
  • Inversions
  • Seated and Reclined Poses for Pranayama and Meditation
  • Guided observation of breath and subtle energy
  • More confidence in supporting yourself in any class
  • Basic formulas for practicing on your own

​In each class I focus on a particular area of the body; an aspect of movement, strength or flexibility; as well as the more subtle internal alignment and movement of energy through the body. I follow the same basic class sequence for a month at a time. This consistency allows you to acclimate, to feel more ease as you explore the complexity of movement and sensation.

My approach is based on my own explorations, inquiries, education and research under the guidance of many teachers. I believe vinyasa yoga to be beneficial and healing when practiced carefully and with guidance that is centered on the student's embodied experience, rather than on competition, striving, or aggressive athleticism. I advocate the use of props and the adaptation of postures to suit the needs of the individual in front of me.

Your experience is to be honored and revered, rather than any teacher, lineage or idealized form. This is sacred, safe and supported space for your growth.
